Carroll College volleyball falls at home against No. 16 Providence

HELENA -- Carroll College surged to a lead over No. 16 Providence in the first set, but the Fighting Saints were unable to put away the Argonauts, dropping three consecutive sets on Friday in the PE Center.

The Argonauts (13-2, 3-1) Frontier Conference) won 26-24, 25-14 and 25-20.

Carroll had its chances in the first set, building a 21-17 lead, but the momentum left the Saints and the Argonauts never ceded control again.

The Saints were slow to start the next two sets, making mistakes while the Argonauts were surefire.

Carroll (6-7, 1-2 Frontier Conference)as a team finished with a hitting percentage of .075 and recorded 2 errors. The Argos hit .221 and limited their errors (17).

The Saints received eight kills from Lexi Mikkelsen and Taelyr Krantz, while setter Ali Williams added six and hit a team-high .211.

Krantz had a game-high five blocks, too.

The Argonauts used 26 kills from Renae Davis, Jensyn Turner and Ember Schwindt to get past the Saints.

Carroll is back on the court tomorrow against Montana State-Northern at 2 p.m. in the PE Center.
