HELENA -- Now halfway through the Frontier Conference football season, Carroll College basketball fans can count down the days until the Fighting Saint's take the court on just two hands.
Carroll College's men's basketball team commemorated this Saturday evening by hosting their "Tip-Off" dinner. Alumni, family, and fans got a chance to meet the Fighting Saint's players and coaches, and to meet with and hear from former Lady Griz Basketball coach Robin Selvig. Selvig, who is currently 10th in total wins for college women's basketball coaches with 865, said he came to Carroll to speak at the Tip Off dinner because he wanted to impress on coaches, players and fans the level of support needed to be successful.
"Everybody is trying to do the same thing. Everybody has the same problems and so I think it's important to support each other, and just like it's really important, if your going to have a good team, that the kids, the teammates support each other" said Selvig.
The Fighting Saints men's and women's basketball teams will open their season on October 18 at 6 p.m. when they host their Purple and Gold scrimmage at the Carroll College P.E. Center.
