HELENA -- Just hours before Montana rings in the new year, Carroll College men's basketball head coach Kurt Paulson was hard at work, but instead of coaching his team, the floor of the P.E. Center was littered with local kids for this year's New Year's Eve camp.

The camp was open to boys from kindergarten to eighth grade, and Paulson joked that he enjoyed working with the kids because it's a nice break away from his team.

"These K-through-8 guys, they listen much better than my players. These guys are really coachable, listen to what I say. My players, it's day to day," Paulson joked. "No, it's fun getting these kids in the gym. We've got a great group, a great turnout so far and they're very energetic and ready to learn, so we're trying to give them a good experience."

The Carroll College men's basketball team will ring in the new year a day late when it hosts the Concordia University of Edmonton on Jan. 2 at 7 p.m.
