WHITEFISH -- Carroll College student-athlete Nikki Krueger and Rocky Mountain College's Michael Lee were named Frontier Conference indoor field athletes of the week, the league announced on Monday.
Krueger, a junior from Kalispell, won the league's women's field athlete of the week honor after an impressive performance at the MSU Indoor Open hosted by Montana State. Krueger won the women's shot put competition, hitting an NAIA A-standard throw of 13.9 meters.
Lee, also of Kalispell, was Krueger's counterpart as the men's field athlete of the week. The sophomore finished runner-up in the men's weight throw with a distance of 16.18 meters, and captured third-place honors in the shot put with a mark of 15.26 meters. The put set a new Rocky program record and was a qualifier for the NAIA B-standard.
According to Rocky Mountain College, it was the third consecutive honor for Lee, who became the first Battlin' Bear in available school history to earn a trip to nationals.
Lewis-Clark State College athletes Clayton VanDyke and Emily Adams were named Frontier Conference track athletes of the week.
