WHITEFISH -- Carroll College basketball players Jovan Sljivancanin and Maddie Geritz swept the Frontier Conference player of the week awards, the league announced Monday.
Sljivancanin, a 6-foot-1 junior guard from Belgrade, Serbia, was selected the men’s player of the week after recording 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists in No. 21 Carroll's 77-61 win over Dickinson (N.D.) State to in the Saints' home opener. He was 9 of 19 from the field, including 1-of-3 mark from 3-point range.
The Carroll men are 2-1 on the season and next play at Dickinson State on Saturday. That game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
Geritz, a 6-2 sophomore from Boise, Idaho, also earned the women's player of the week honor for her efforts against Dickinson State. She scored 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and a 7-of-10 performance at the free throw line in the 20th-ranked Saints' 92-57 win over the Blue Hawks. She also grabbed five rebounds in the win.
The 3-0 Carroll women are at home to host the Thanksgiving Classic this week. The Saints will play Valley City (N.D.) University at 4 p.m. Friday and Lewis-Clark State at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Frontier Conference play is scheduled to begin Dec. 5.
