WHITEFISH -- Carroll College sophomore Jovan Sljivancanin was named the Frontier Conference men's basketball player of the week, the league announced on Monday.
The 6-foot-5 sophomore from Serbia helped Carroll to a pair of lopsided wins at the Carroll College Holiday Classic over the weekend -- a 91-53 victory over Southern Alberta Institute of Technology on Friday, then a 93-55 defeat of Walla Walla University Saturday. Sljivancanin averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in the wins, shooting 65 percent from the floor.
Against SAIT, Sljivancanin had 17 points andn nine rebounds, while dishing out five assists in 29 minutes. The following night, he posted a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, blocking three shots and tallying a pair of steals.
Sljivancanin and Carroll return to action on Thursday, Jan. 2 against Concordia University of Edmonton. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Carroll P.E. Center.
