Carroll College women roll past Montana Tech, Oredigger men outlast Saints

BUTTE — Jamie Pickens poured in a game-high 19 points and Danielle Wagner added 16 as the Carroll College women's basketball team raced past Montana Tech 75-60 on Thursday at the HPER Complex.

With the win, the Saints earned their second win over the Orediggers this season after beating Tech 68-57 on Dec. 17.

Christine Denny had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Sienna Swannack addded 13 points to give the Saints four players in double-figures.

The Saints (8-1 overall, 2-0 in the Frontier Confernece) led 20-12 after one quarter and 36-34 at halftime. Carroll outscored the Orediggers by 9 points in the third quarter.

Tech (1-3, 1-3) was led by 12 points from Brooke Heggie and 10 from Dani Urick.

Tech hosts Providence on Monday and Tuesday while the Saints travel to face MSU-Northern.

Montana Tech men 58, Carroll College 55

Derrius Collins scored a game-high 13 points and Sindou Diallo added 12 as the Montana Tech men fended off Carroll College 58-55 to give the Orediggers a December sweep over the Saints.

Tech led 33-25 at the half and then held off Carroll in the second half. The Saints were down by 13 points with just more than 10 minutes remaining but rallied to tie the game at 53 with two minutes remaining.

The Orediggers have earned two wins in two days after defeating Montana Western 88-84 on Wednesday in Dillon. Tech is now 3-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play, opening its Frontier schedule with three straight wins for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

The Saints (3-3, 0-2) were led by a double-double performance from Jovan Sljivancanin with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Shamrock Cambell and Ifeanyi Okeke each had 10 points for the Saints.

Tech stays at home to host Providence for a doubleheader on Monday and Tuesday while Carroll travels to Havre to take on MSU-Northern.
