Carroll College men's basketball falls to No. 7 Morningside

ABERDEEN, S.D. -- The No. 21 Carroll College Fighting Saints suffered their first setback of the season, falling 81-59 to No. 7 Morningside College at a neutral site in Aberdeen, South Dakota on Saturday.

The Saints (1-1) hung tight during the game’s first 15 minutes, but Morningside closed the first half on a 10-2 run to hold a 14-point advantage at halftime. Morningside kept its distance from the Saints the rest of the way, using strong play in the interior to score.

Shamrock Campbell scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Saints, hitting 8 of 16 shots, including 7-for-11 shooting from the 3-point line, but only Dennis Flowers III joined him in double figures with 10 points.

The Saints shot 36 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep. Morningside shot 56 percent from the floor, including a 47 percent clip from beyond the 3-point line.

The Saints’ next scheduled contest is Friday, Nov. 20 in Helena against Dickinson State University.
