HELENA -- During Carroll College football's 2019 spring scrimmage, the world was introduced to Troy Purcell's 'C4' mentality.

That philosophy was brought in to build up the players inside of the program and strengthen the bond between teammates and coaches. Now through his first season at the helm of the Fighting Saints, Purcell said that mentality isn't going anywhere because of its ability to unite.

"The 'C4' mentality was awesome, and I think that's a big part of being able to bring people together with one common purpose and goal," said Purcell. "If you can see it on paper and you can read it and understand it and live it, then it makes it very motivating for you to live the 'C4' and choose character and everything that it represents."

The Fighting Saints finished the 2019 season at 6-4, the first winning season for Carroll since 2014. The Saints also moved into the NAIA top-25 rankings for the first time since 2016 after a Week 10 win over the Montana Tech Orediggers and finished the season ranked No. 25.
