HELENA -- Following an NAIA National Tournament berth for the Carroll College women's basketball team and a NAIA National Championship runner-up finish for the Fighting Saints men's team, both squads are getting ready to suit up for the 2019-20 season.
Ahead of their season-opening Purple-Gold scrimmage, the men's basketball program is hosting a "Tip-Off Dinner" on Oct. 12 at the Carroll College campus center.
"We're going to be tipping off this month with games and just getting some excitement around the program," said head coach Kurt Paulson.
In addition to the dinner and social, Montana basketball legend and former University of Montana women's basketball coach Robin Selvig will make an appearance and speak to Carroll basketball fans.
"We're just thankful that he's coming to Helena. The people in the community know him, or know of him, and this is a great chance for them come hear him speak and kind of tell his story and relate it back to Carroll College," said Paulson.
After the Tip-Off Dinner, both teams will finish out the week's worth of practices before each team squares off against itself in the Purple-Gold Scrimmage on Oct. 18.
"It'll kind of be our first look with officials, kind of getting that first game type atmosphere, so we're excited," said Paulson. "We have lots of new faces so it will be fun to see what those kids can do with some officials and a little bit of structure in a scrimmage setting. That will be an exciting night for us."
The Purple-Gold scrimmage will tip off at 6 p.m. and tickets for the Tip-Off dinner can be found here.
