HELENA -- The Carroll College men's and women's basketball teams earned a Frontier Conference doubleheader sweep of Montana Tech at the PE Center on Saturday. The Carroll women put together a dominant game to rout Tech 79-42, while the Carroll men cruised to an 88-70 win.
Carroll College women 79, Montana Tech 42
A dominating first half of basketball propelled the Carroll College Fighting Saints to a 79-42 women's basketball win late Saturday afternoon in the first of two weekend games against Montana Tech.
Twelve Carroll players scored with Dani Wagner leading the way with 14 points, followed by Jamie Pickens with 10 points. Carroll had a 40-27 rebounding advantage. The win puts the Fighting Saints at 8-1 in Frontier Conference play and 14-2 overall.
Montana Tech and Carroll tip off Sunday at 2 p.m. for their final regular-season meeting of the year.
Carroll College men 88, Montana Tech 70
The Fighting Saints men's basketball team went 8 of 10 from beyond the arc and shot 65% from the field in the first half to build an 18-point halftime lead en route to an 88-70 win over the Montana Tech Orediggers.
For the game, Carroll shot 15 of 20 from 3-point range and shot 59% from the field. The Fighting Saints recorded 26 assists on 33 baskets. Sophomore Dennis Flowers III led all scorers with 23 points, while also dishing out five assists. Also in double figures were Jovan Sljivancanin with 21 points and sophomores Ifeanyi Okeke and Brendan Temple with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Junior Shamrock Campbell had nine assists. Carroll moves to 5-4 in the Frontier Conference and 8-5 overall.
Montana Tech and Carroll play again on Sunday, with tipoff at approximately 4:15 p.m.
