MISSOULA — The Missoula Mavericks have been the team to beat as of late as they sit atop the American Legion Baseball Class AA standings at the moment.

On Wednesday night the Mavericks hosted the Bozeman Bucks under the lights and earned another 5-0 win.

In the first inning, the Mavericks got out to an early lead with an RBI single.

In the second inning, Missoula was threatening again with two runners on but Bozeman got out of the jam with a lineout to first.

In the fourth inning, the Mavericks had a runner on first and second with no outs. Zach Hangas laid down a sacrifice bunt to the first-base side, but the throw went wide, allowed another run to come in for Missoula. The next batter, Dayton Bay, singled up the middle and more Bozeman errors ensued. The centerfielder bobbled the ball, and two more runs crossed the plate.

Missoula took a 4-0 lead and never looked back. Starting pitcher Dylan Chalmers was excellent, going seven innings and striking out seven.
