District 5B: Three Forks girls, Big Timber boys rally their way to semifinals

BELGRADE -- The Three Forks girls' strong second half propelled the Wolves to the District 5B semifinals as they defeated No. 6 Manhattan 54-46 on Thursday night at Belgrade High School. The third-seeded Wolves were led by Kendall Lynn's game-high 19 points. Her teammate Ashlyn Swenson added 15 points in the win.

Manhattan's Jasmine Grossman scored a team-high 13 points, while Amy Grevious added 12.

Three Forks now advances to the semifinals to take on No. 2 Whitehall in the semifinals Friday at 7:30 p.m.

On the other side of the bracket, Jefferson defeated Townsend 48-40 to move to the next round. But the Panthers have an extremely tough test ahead of them in the semifinals as they square off against undefeated Big Timber Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Herders boys were locked into the game of the night as they narrowly defeated Townsend 49-48 to advance to the semifinals, as well. The Herders will now battle Three Forks in the semifinals Friday at 3 p.m.

Manhattan earned the bye on the boys side and will take on Whitehall in the next round after the Trojans upset Jefferson in a defensive battled 36-23.
