BILLINGS - A fourth letter of intent signing for the Montana State University Billings volleyball team was announced by head coach Casey Williams on Tuesday, as Mikayla Yore will become a Yellowjacket in 2021.
Yore is the fourth high school commitment for the Yellowjackets for the upcoming 2021-22 school year.
“Mikayla will make a great addition to our roster,” said Williams. “She is strong, quick, and reads the game really well. I was impressed with her this summer at camp, and I am excited that she has decided to become a Yellowjacket.”
Yore enjoyed a decorated career at Kuna High School in Idaho, where she was a three-year letter winner as a middle blocker on the court. Yore captained her team in 2020, and earned all-conference recognition for the second straight season. She was named her team’s offensive player of the year in both 2019 and 2020, and she helped the team to top-four finishes in the state tournament in both 2018 and 2019.
Yore is a three-time recipient of the Kuna High School academic award and a two-time academic all-Southern Idaho Conference pick as well. In addition to her volleyball career, Yore finished 18th in the nation in the Olympic lifts at the USA Weightlifting competition in 2019 and qualified for the event again in 2020.
“I chose MSUB because it felt like home,” said Yore. “The campus is gorgeous and has a supportive community. The girls were so welcoming, and created an atmosphere that I knew I wanted to be a part of. I learned a lot from the coaches during camp, and I know they are going to push me to be my best self. I can’t wait to be a Yellowjacket.”
