ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Miles Community College women's basketball program landed at No. 1 in the two-year college division of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Team Honor Roll, which was announced this week.
MCC, led by coach Taylor Harris in his first season, posted a team GPA of 3.771.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes student-athletes and programs from NCAA Division I, II and III, the NAIA and two-year colleges across the country. The organization looks at the GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on the roster for the entire season.
Dawson Community College was No. 7 with a mark of 3.346.
“The WBCA applauds these head coaches and their teams for their commitment to academic excellence,” WBCA executive director Danielle Donehew said through a release. “We appreciate and value the hard work and dedication the players and coaches have put forth to thrive in the classroom and on the basketball court.”
The University of Montana landed at No. 22 on the NCAA Division I list, posting a GPA of 3.634, while the University of Providence tied for No. 10 in the NAIA with a GPA of 3.683.
