GLENDIVE -- The Miles Community College volleyball team hit the road for the quarterfinals of the Region XIII Playoffs on Friday and dominated the Dawson CC Bucs from start to finish in a resounding 3-0 victory to move the semifinal round.

The Pioneers avenged a five-set loss in Glendive just 11 days earlier and moved to the semifinal round and a match at Bismarck State College on Monday night. Friday's first set went back and forth early and got tight late as the Pioneers prevailed 25-23. The Set 1 win propelled MCC to a 25-19 win in Set 2. With all the momentum in the hands of the Pioneers, they finished off the Buccaneers 25-19 in the third game for the win.

The Pioneer offense started with setter Jacey Rowland as she had a season-high 42 assists. Cassidy Acor was the benefactor of 13 of those assists with strong kills from the middle, and Chloe Cota served up two aces. Defensively, Matilda Dietz anchored the back row with 26 digs and Sydney Johnstone had two blocks.

The Pioneers moved to 11-13 on the season and will face the 16-3 Mystics of Bismarck State in the semifinals. The 19th-ranked Mystics' only losses of the season have come at the hands of the 14th-ranked NDSCS Wildcats.
