GLENDIVE - Dawson Community College got off to a 12-0 lead early on built a 45-22 lead into half-time and cruised to a double digit men's basketball win over the visiting Miles Community College Pioneers. The 76-63 win moved Dawson to 7-0 in the conference and 8-0 overall and dropped MCC to 4-5.

"Our defense was really strong in the first half and they struggled to score at the rim with Charles Lampten protecting the paint," said CC Coach Joe Peterson. "Their shooting really got going in the second half and we needed to do a better job of being there on the catch. We weren't locked in for forty minutes like we needed to be."

The Buccaneers again had a very balanced scoring attack, as they had 9 players score at least 5 points. Dawson was led by Reggie Martin's 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Charles Lampten stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 blocks. Kennedy Brown also contributed 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Miles Community College was led by Dylan Hushaw's 22 points on 6 3-pointers and 4 rebounds. Favour Chukwukela added 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. The 3-point shooting of the Pioneers allowed them to keep the game close late in the second half, but they were never able to recover from their slow start.

The Dawson Buccaneers will have the weekend off and be back in action Monday versus United Tribes Technical College.
