GLENDIVE - Dawson Community College Mathematics and Statistics Instructor Jennifer Weeding is stepping in as the Interim Rodeo Coach heading into the start of the fall season. Dawson will be hosting its home rodeo this weekend at J&A Arena with the Friday and Saturday Performances at 6:00 p.m. All 8 teams from the NIRA Big Sky Region will be competing in the event.
Weeding has extensive experience in rodeo, starting in it from the time she could walk. As a collegiate athlete, she competed at West Texas College and then Montana State University. While at MSU, she finished in the top 5 in goat tying and team roping in the Big Sky Region. Her coaching experience includes working with goat tying and breakaway roping for close to six years.
Weeding worked at Montana State University for 12 years before accepting a Math and Statistics instructor position at DCC in July. Weeding will help guide the rodeo team through the four fall events in September and October. Ryan Vander Pluym resigned as head coach earlier this week because of personal reasons. The college will open up the search for a new Rodeo Coach immediately.
