GLENDIVE - Dawson Community College Women's Basketball has once again been selected as one of the top teams in the nation for grade point average by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year women's basketball teams with outstanding GPAs. The 2019-20 season is the 25th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
"The WBCA applauds these head coaches and their teams for their commitment to academic excellence," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "We appreciate and value the hard work and dedication the players and coaches have put forth to thrive in the classroom and on the basketball court."
Already this past school year, Dawson was nationally ranked as one of the top NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year. In the WBCA, the Lady Bucs were ranked No. 7 nationally with a team GPA of 3.34 GPA. This will be DCC's 5th year in a row with national honors. The DCC Lady Buccaneers posted 9 Academic All-Conference players, along with 9 students making the President's Honor List this past spring semester.
Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. commented, "We are thrilled about the national academic honors again. Our consistency truly shows that we never lose the focus of education. I thank our coaching staff and our entire campus as a whole for lending their assistance and support to ensure these young women are getting a quality education."
