GLENDIVE - Dawson Basketball’s 6’9 center, Jaron Masis, signed with Blue Mountain College. The “Toppers” have won 25 games over the past two years in the NAIA and return most of their roster from this past year’s team. The school is located in Blue Mountain, Mississippi.
“I am excited for this new step and the opportunity given to me to continue my studies and sports in the U.S," Masis said. "I want to thank everyone who helped me through this journey since my high school and junior college career.”
Originally from Guapiles, Costa Rica, Masis has been a part of the Buccaneers success over the past two years. As a sophomore, he started 13 games and averaged 3.8 ppg and 2.3 rpg while shooting 52% from the field and 70% from the charity stripe, helping Dawson go 27-7 and win three trophies. As a freshman, he started 25 games and averaged 5.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg and shot 52% from the field, helping Dawson go 20-12.
“I’m excited for Jaron. He is a great young man,' said Bucs' head coach Joe Peterson. "I know Blue Mountain is getting a high character guy that will add to their team chemistry and will provide some size and an inside scoring punch.”
