GLENDIVE - The Dawson Community College men’s track and field team produced strong finishes over the weekend at the Black Hill State Yellowjacket Invite, including major standouts from the 60m dash and the 4x400m relay.
Jayden and Brayden Fraser ran 7.17 and 7.20 in the prelims for the 60 meter dash and placed third and fourth, respectively. In the finals, the two finished with times of 7.16 (Jayden) and 7.24 (Brayden). Jayden was edged out of second place in the 60m by only 0.01 seconds from a sprinter from Chadron State. The 4x400m team placed fourth overall with a time of 3:49.25 which they ran in a heat with no other competition. The team was made up of Jayden Fraser, Scott Rafter, Taylen Dolan, and Brayden Fraser, and the team will be looking to drastically improve their time when racing against competition within their heat next week.
On the women’s side, Kayla Parisien placed second in the 1600m improving her previous mile time by 10 seconds, finishing with a time of 5:51.3. Following her 1600m performance, Kayla turned around and raced in the 800 meter dash placing fourth with a time of 2:39.
“The team continues to improve at each meet and I’m excited to see them perform at our final indoor meet of the season next Saturday," said head coach Alex Chase Wolff. "After that we will be looking forward to our outdoor season and focusing on national qualifying times.”
The Buccaneers race at their last indoor meet of the season Saturday at the Stinger Open at Black Hills State University.
