GLENDIVE - The Dawson Community College basketball men opened their season Wednesday night with a convincing 95-63 road win over Miles Community College. The Bucs held a 4 point lead at half-time but outscored the Pioneers 55-27 in the second half by forcing 19 turnovers and shooting 53% from the field in the final twenty minutes.
"We got off to a rough start and didn't handle the ball very well, but when we turned up the pressure on the defensive end, things started flowing better," said DCC head coach Joe Peterson. "We've had a tough week, but these guys showed a lot of resilience tonight"
The Bucs were led in scoring by Hezekiah Swanson who had 22 points. Kennedy Brown scored 16 points and Jajuan Tot added 11 points, along with 4 assists and 5 steals. Remy Lemovou had 21 points and 12 rebounds for Miles.
Dawson will host Bismarck State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
DCC's women postponed their first two conference games against Miles Community College and Bismarck State College.
The Miles Community College game originally scheduled for Wednesday night will be played on Tuesday, February 2 at 5:30 p.m. in Miles City. The Bismarck State home game scheduled for Saturday, will be played on Friday, March 5 at 5:30 p.m. in Glendive.
