Dawson CC men's winning streak reaches 13

BOTTINEAU, N.D. - After securing a conference championship on Thursday night, the Bucs didn't show any signs of a letdown Sunday on the road at Dakota College Bottineau where they trounced the home team 98-59. It improves their record to 23-6 overall and 12-0 in conference while running their win streak to 13 games.

The Bucs outscored Dakota College 49-29 in the first half and 49-30 in the second half. Dawson took control by forcing 15 turnovers in the first half and dominating the boards 26-10. Kolten Hitt scored 20 points in the opening twenty minutes, including 4-6 from 3 point range. In the second half the whole team lit it up from long range, connecting on 9 3-pointers.

Coach Joe Peterson was pleased with the effort, "I liked that we were able to maintain the same level of intensity today as we had in previous games. Their mindset is to keep getting better and I think we got better today.

Eleven players scored for Dawson. Kolten Hitt leld the attack with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals. CJ Nelson had 13 points. Devin Collins had 13 points and 9 rebounds. Man Man Baker had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, along with 6 assists.
Trayvon Barney had 19 and Jackson Johnson had 18 in the losing effort.

Dawson returns to action on Thursday night when they host inter-state rival Miles Community College at 7:30 pm. The Bucs will be honoring their 10 sophomores on Thursday and Mid-Rivers will be sponsoring the game. They close out the regular season on the road next Sunday at Bismarck State. As regular season champions, Dawson will be hosting the Region XIII Tournament February 27-29.
