Dawson CC hires former Billings runner as cross country coach

GLENDIVE - Alexandra Chase has been named the new Cross Country and Track coach at Dawson Community College.

Chase is a graduate of Billings Central High School and Rocky Mountain College where she ran collegiately and also assisted in the strength and conditioning program. She currently works for Inner Alpha Fitness as a health and wellness coach and for the Billings Public Schools as a track and field coach for Billing Skyview High School. She graduated from Rocky Mountain College with a degree in Health and Human Performance and Exercise Science. In her master's degree work, Chase has focused on how to affect performance in collegiate and elite runners. She is passionate about running and loves working with athletes.

Athletic Director Joe Peterson was excited about adding Chase to the athletic department, "Alexandra has good experience running and coaching. From her academic work at the undergraduate and graduate levels, she is also very knowledgeable about improving performance, strength training and injury prevention. Most of all, she has great energy and a passion to grow personally and grow the program."

Coach Chase commented, "I am extremely humbled and excited to be the cross country and track coach at Dawson Community College. This is truly an unbelievable opportunity for myself and my family. I am looking forward to working with the great administration, faculty and staff in continuing their commitment to academics and athletics. I am excited to get to work with the student-athletes and to continue to build on the traditions of excellence established here. Those involved in cross country and track will be leaders in the classroom, on the course and track, and in the community. I am honored to be able to support the student-athletes achieve their goals."

DCC started the cross-country program last year. There are about 12 student-athletes who plan on coming to Dawson to run this year. Chase will be starting this week to get prepared for the students' arrival on August 25th. Their first competition will be on September 13th in Billings.
