GLENDIVE - Dawson Community College and Miles Community College will be battling it out for the Region XIII Championship Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. in Glendive.
Dawson defeated Williston State College 88-76 in the first semifinal Friday night. The Bucs posted five guys in double figures and two others with nine points in the balanced attack. CJ Nelson led the way with 16 points and Camron Dunfee scored 15. Dawson led from start to finish and held a double digit for most of the way and built up a 20 point lead at one point. The Bucs outrebounded the Tetons 44-33 and held them to 34% shooting on the night. Williston hung around thanks to making 26-30 from the free throw. It was the 16th straight win for Dawson who moves to 26-6 on the season.
In the 2nd semifinal Miles Community College came back from a 14 point deficit in the second half to stun North Dakota State College of Science 86-83. Deondre Northey had a game high 30 points and Favour Chukwukelu had 20 points, but it was Isaac Abergut's big three pointer with a minute remaining that finally gave Miles the lead.
The Region XIII Championship Game will be the fourth meeting of the year between rivals Dawson and Miles. Dawson won the first three meetings.
