GLENDIVE -- With their very first recruit for the Fall 2020 class, Dawson Community College Women's Basketball received their NJCAA National Letter of Intent signee from across the waters in Queensland, Australia. Emma Stadler, a 6'3 post, will be the start of Dawson's next recruiting class.

Emma will start in the spring semester with the Lady Buccaneers to get ahead of the game in training, conditioning, experience to see what the competition is like. It will help her get acclimated to the system Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. emphasizes in the
program.

Born in Randwick, NSW, Australia, and growing up in the Blue Mountains, Emma moved to the Gold Coast and has lived there for the last 10 years. She fully committed to playing basketball in 2015, and decided to attend a well-known basketball power in Hillcrest Christian College. There she averaged 12 points, 4 offensive rebounds, 8 defensive rebounds, 5 blocks and 3 steals. Emma has also played for numerous clubs from 2015-2019 giving her a lot of experience: North Gold Coast Seahawks, Gold Coast Basketball, Heat Basketball, and Basketball Queensland.

Since enrolling at Hillcrest, Emma has been part of State Championships placing first in 2019 and second in 2018. She has also received personal awards as 2019 Most Improved with the North Gold Coast Seahawks Division 1 level, 2016 Coaches Award with Gold Coast Basketball Under 18 Division 1, and 2016 Best Defensive Player with Heat Basketball Division 1.

Emma commented on her opportunity in attending Dawson, "The reason that I chose Dawson was because of the #2 ranking it received from 513 community and junior colleges nationwide for its ability to prepare students for the completion of 4 year degrees. I also chose the college because I believe it's a great opportunity for me to excel in basketball and it opens up new opportunities. I'm really excited to start my college journey at Dawson CC, and train with the Lady Bucs!!"

Coach Lagmay was thrilled about his first signee of the 2020 class, "Emma will hopefully bring us a stronger presence under the rim. She has potential to be even better than what she is already by starting in the spring semester. This will allow her to train in advance, and add more to her arsenal in her post game. She already has a great lefty jump hook and a knack for blocking shots. With this first signee as a post, there is much more to come. Buc Nation should be excited!"
