POWELL, Wyo. -- Powell starting quarterback Ethan Asher was involved in a serious accident on his way to school. It was the second day of his senior year of high school.
He had a tear in his aorta, a severed spinal cord, head and brain trauma and a host of other serious injuries.
Doctors and medical staff thought there was a good chance he would die from his injuries, but he survived.
The community of Powell and all of Wyoming rallied around Ethan and the Asher family with prayer vigils, fundraisers and with the Panthers winning their first game at home.
The Panthers, whose motto for the year was "The Brotherhood”, would carry Ethan’s jersey with them throughout the season.
