CENTERVILLE -- Fort Benton built a 27-6 halftime lead on its way to a 53-12 win at 8-Man North foe Centerville on Saturday afternoon.
Centerville's Grant Cotton took the opening kick of the second half back for a touchdown, but Fort Benton would score 26 unanswered points to pull away from the Miners.
Hayden Axtman got the second half started for Fort Benton with a short rushing touchdown to push the lead to 33-12. On Centerville's next drive quarterback Carson McGinness was intecepted by Jace Thompson, who took it back for six. Thompson added a rushing touchdown in the second half to enact a running clock.
With the win, Fort Benton moves to 3-0 and has yet to give up more than 12 points in a game this year. The Longhorns will host Chinook on Sept. 20. Centerville falls to 2-1 and will visit Shelby on Sept. 20.
