Malta calls off Homecoming football, volleyball games against Wolf Point amid COVID-19 concerns

MALTA — Malta High School postponed indefinitely it’s Homecoming football game against Wolf Point scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18, and volleyball game with Wolf Point scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19.

In a release posted to the Malta Public Schools Facebook page, the move was made “in coordination with the Phillips County Health Department, based on information received from Indian Health Services in Wolf Point.”

Roosevelt County has been hit hard by COVID-19 over the past few weeks, adding 92 cases since the start of September. The county currently has 67 active cases, including confirmed positive cases in the school district.

Malta will now hold Homecoming festivities on Sept. 25 for their home football game against Shepherd.
