Sixteen teams qualified for the Class B football postseason, which begins next week across Montana. The regular season wrapped up Friday night, with the final berth being clinched by Baker after its 52-28 win over Colstrip.
While the Spartans were the final team to secure a playoff position, multiple seeds were still up for grabs Friday night, including all four in the challenging Southern B. Manhattan won the league's title following its 27-6 win at Jefferson, concluding the regular season with a perfect 8-0 mark, including a 6-0 record in conference play. Columbus' surprising 21-6 win at Townsend launched the Cougars into the No. 2 position, while Jefferson finished third and Townsend fourth.
Glasgow gave defending state champion Fairfield a run for its money, taking a crack at the Northern B's No. 1 seed, but the Eagles prevailed 34-26 to clinch the conference championship and ensuing No. 1 seed. Like Manhattan, Fairfield also enters the postseason unbeaten, 8-0. Malta, Glasgow and Cut Bank will represent the Northern B in the playoffs.
Eureka (8-0, 5-0) had already wrapped up the Western B's No. 1 seed, but added a 44-6 win over No. 4-seeded Bigfork for good measure on Friday night. The Lions and Vikings will be joined by Florence and Missoula Loyola in representing the Western B in the playoffs.
Red Lodge enters the playoffs as the fourth undefeated in Class B, finishing the regular season 8-0 and Eastern B 6-0. Red Lodge, Huntley Project, Shepherd and Baker will be the four teams from the East in next week's playoffs.
