Fifteen teams will compete in the Class AA football playoffs beginning next week, after the league wrapped up its regular season on Friday night. Butte finished as the lone unbeaten, recording a perfect 9-0 record, including a 7-0 mark in conference play, the first undefeated regular season for the Bulldogs since 1991, according to head coach Arie Gray. With the Western AA's No. 1 seed in hand, the Bulldogs will receive a bye in the opening round of the postseason.
Missoula Sentinel (8-1, 6-1) will be the Western AA's No. 2 seed, followed by Helena Capital and Helena High in third and fourth respectively. The top four teams will host playoff games in the opening round.
Kalispell Glacier, Missoula Hellgate, Kalispell Flathead and Missoula Big Sky round out the Western AA standings.
Bozeman defeated defending state champion Billings West 26-20 at Van Winkle Stadium on Friday night to clinch the Eastern AA's top seed. The Hawks (7-1, 6-0) will host Missoula Big Sky in the first round of the playoffs. West (7-1, 5-1) will return to Billings to welcome Kalispell Flathead in a rematch of last year's Class AA title game.
Billings Senior and Great Falls High will also earn home games in the opening round, while Great Falls CMR, Belgrade and Billings Skyview will be on the road.
