LAUREL -- Marcus Wittman passed for two touchdowns and ran for another to help Billings Central to a 28-14 Eastern A football win over rival Laurel on Friday.

Wittman hooked up with Junior Brackenridge for an 18-yard score late in the first quarter and then added a short rushing TD late in the second as the Rams built a 14-0 lead going into halftime.

Laurel, which lost to Miles City in last year's Class A state championship game, responded in the third quarter. Jaxon Wittmayer found the end zone on a 4-yard run to make it a one-possession game.

Wittman found Regan LaFontaine for another BC touchdown moments later to push the Rams' advantage back to 21-7, but Laurel again answered. James Ochs ran in another score for the Locos, and it was just a one-score game -- 21-14 -- going to the fourth.

Laurel couldn't complete the comeback in the final period, though. Derek Damjanovich found the end zone for Central's fourth touchdown, and the final score of the game, as the Rams iced it for the 28-14 win to improve to 3-0 on the season and keep pace with reigning champion Miles City in the Eastern A standings. The Cowboys also improved to 3-0 on Friday, running past Hardin for a 47-8 win.

Laurel is now 2-1 on the season.
