GREAT FALLS—Great Falls High junior standout Reed Harris verbally committed to Boston College for football on Thursday after receiving several offers in the past few months from FBS schools across the nation. He signaled his commitment with this tweet yesterday:

“My mom was joking around with one of the coaches from Boston College and asked him how she found a guy like me in the middle of nowhere of Montana and he said it’s all about exposure and who you know,” Harris said.
Harris’ commitment status had been a regular topic of discussion on social media after his breakout year his sophomore season and even more so when he received his first offer Iowa State. From there, the FBS offers rolled in. After taking his unofficial visit two weeks to Boston, walking the campus and talking to the coaches he found not only an athletic home for four years but an academic institution that would allow for to receive a great education.
“Even though football won’t last forever, Boston College has a great education program and I feel like I can get one of the best degrees in the nation there that will carry me through a lifetime.”
“He’s a very smart kid," Great Falls High head coach Coda Tchida added. "He’s dedicated, he knows what he wants, very loyal and talking to him I assume he wants to go to the next level when it’s all said and done but you have to have a great backup plan.”
Harris is a three-sport star in football, basketball and track. Widely considered one of if not the best athlete in the state, Harris will join a small but elite company of football players to play at the FBS level not only from Great Falls High but from the city of Great Falls. The last Great Falls football player to play for a Power 5 conference was Brady Leaf back in 2003.
“It makes me feel like I can represent Montana and give people a good idea of what’s it like to come from a really small town compared to most places and compete with kids that come from places like Texas or California.”
Harris will have one more year under center for Tchida as well as his winter and spring sports seasons to round out his star-studded Bison career.
