DRUMMOND -- Drummond-Philipsburg defeated Victor 70-6 to officially clinch a playoff berth on Friday night. The defending state champion Titans will be the No. 4 seed from the 8-Man West.
Kade Cutler had three touchdowns in the opening quarter -- a 13-yard rush, 53-yard punt return and 18-yard pass to Daniel Brabender -- as the Titans ran away with their regular-season finale.
Cutler found Brabender for another passing touchdown early in the second quarter, then connected with Preston Metesh to put Drummond-Philipsburg ahead 34-6. The Titans reserves made their way into the game before halftime, where Drummond-Philipsburg led 50-6.
Drummond-Philipsburg joins St. Ignatius, Thompson Falls and Alberton-Superior in the upcoming 8-Man playoffs. The Mountain Cats secured the conference title, finishing 8-0 in the league and 9-0 overall. Thompson Falls and St. Ignatius each finished with 7-1 records, but the tiebreaker favored the Blue Hawks.
Saturday will see the final playoff berths clinched, with games between Centerville and Shelby in the 8-Man North, and Culbertson and Circle in the 8-Man East. West Yellowstone and Park City have secured their postseason berths in the 8-Man South, while Joliet, Lone Peak and Twin Bridges are all battling for the third and final position.
