Harlowton-Ryegate blocked a point-after try to secure a 44-42 6-Man football win over Denton-Geyser-Stanford on Friday.

The game was close throughout with the teams trading scores in what was a one-possession game through the first two-plus quarters. The Engineers built their biggest lead -- 26-14 -- early in the third quarter, but DGS quickly responded to cut the deficit back to 26-22. Harlowton-Ryegate would take a 32-28 lead into the fourth quarter after both teams tacked on additional TDs in the third.

The back-and-forth nature of the game continued in the fourth, setting up the late-game fireworks. The Bearcats scored with 30 seconds remaining to get within 44-42 and lined up for the potential game-tying point-after kick (PAT kicks are worth two points in 6-Man football). But the Engineers got a hand on the ball to secure the win and hand DGS its first loss of the season. Both teams are now 3-1 in the 6-Man Central.

Elsewhere on the 6-Man fields, Broadview-Lavina continued to light up the scoreboard, rolling past Reed Point-Rapelje 73-0 on Friday. The Pirates have now scored 77, 68 and 73 points in their three games this season. Shields Valley also won in the 6-Man South, defeating Custer-Hysham 48-21, as it goes for its second consecutive conference championship.

Power-Dutton-Brady got a 54-19 win over Valier in the North, and Richey-Lambert rallied for a 47-20 win over Wibaux in the East.
