(Editor’s note: Big Sky Conference press release)
OGDEN, Utah — The Big Sky Conference announced its track and field athletes of the week on Monday, April 15, and Montana State’s Lexi Kyro was selected as the recipient of the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week honor.
Kyro put together one of her best individual performances as a Bobcat at the Triton Invitational on Saturday in La Jolla, California. Kyro finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:38.20. The mark placed Kyro third on the Big Sky performance list and it also moved her up to sixth all-time in program history in the event.
The MSU sophomore is currently 33rd in the NCAA Division I West Region rankings and is in position to qualify for the NCAA Preliminary Round meet in Sacramento, California, from May 23-25.
The Montana State track and field program will split up its teams in its upcoming weekend of competition. A group of Bobcats will travel back to California to compete in select events in the Long Beach area, while the remainder of the Bobcats make their home debut at the Bobcat Track and Field Complex on Saturday, April 20.
