BOZEMAN — The Montana State men’s basketball team is coming off a huge win after beating one of the top teams in the Big Sky Conference, Northern Colorado, on Monday night.

On Saturday the Cats fell to Montana 83-78 at home and then had a quick turnaround on the road in Greeley, Colo. In their last meeting with UNC, MSU lost by three, 73-70. Monday’s game was also decided by three points, with MSU earning a 69-66 win.

Head coach Brian Fish said the resilient effort by the team after a harsh loss helped them get the win.

“I thought we competed at an extremely high level, whether it was good or bad,” Fish said. “We didn’t do very well the first 15 minutes of that game, didn’t start well in the second half necessarily in our favor, got down 10 there, but the resiliency and the players figuring out some problems on their own really stood out to me.”

In their last meeting, the Bobcats lost by three, so to get redemption on the road was a step in the right direction.

“We were almost dead even if you look at it after two games, dead even on the score, so good win,” Fish finished.
