OGDEN, Utah – The Big Sky Conference released its 2019 indoor track and field preseason coaches’ polls on Thursday, Dec. 20, with Northern Arizona unanimously picked to sweep the 2019 Big Sky Championships.

Both the men’s and women’s teams from Northern Arizona received 11 first-place votes for 121 points. Montana State’s men and women were selected by the league’s coaches to finish in the same positions they ended the 2018 Championship, with the men slotted third and the women selected to take fifth.

The Bobcat men sit behind Northern Arizona and Southern Utah (105) in the Indoor Preseason Coaches’ Poll. MSU’s 87 points placed the Bobcats narrowly ahead of Sacramento State (85) and Weber State (83) in the poll.

MSU’s women’s team (68) was predicted to finish fifth by the Big Sky head coaches ahead of Eastern Washington (67) and Montana (58). Taking up the top four sports in the women’s poll were Northern Arizona, Sacramento State (100), Weber State (97) and Southern Utah (72).

The Montana State track and field teams return to action at the start of the New Year. The Bobcats will host a Multis Meet from Jan. 7-8, then welcome a variety of teams to Worthington Arena for the Montana State Open on Jan. 11.

The 2019 Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships will be hosted by Montana State from Feb. 21-23 in Worthington Arena. The 2019 Championship will mark the ninth occasion MSU has hosted the Big Sky indoor meet.
