MADISON, Wis. — Montana State’s Ty Mogan wrapped up his first appearance on the national stage Saturday, Nov. 17, competing at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. Mogan finished 143rd overall in the Men’s 10-kilometer championship field at the University of Wisconsin’s Zimmer Championship Course.
Mogan crossed the finish line in a time of 31:00.5. His mark was less than 2 minutes behind NCAA individual champion Morgan McDonald of Wisconsin who finished with a time of 29:08.3.
The Big Sky Conference champion Northern Arizona completed a three-peat at the NCAA Championships by earning the team title with 83 points. The Lumberjacks had five runners finish in the top 25 of the individual standings.
The cross country schedule came to a close with the NCAA Championships. Montana State’s track and field teams are scheduled to host the Bobcat Preview on Saturday, Dec. 1, inside Worthington Arena.
Other Montana finishers at the NCAA cross country championships saw former Bigfork standout Makena Morley place eighth, good for all-American honors, while helping her Colorado Buffaloes to the women’s team title. Helena High graduate Aidan Reed was 51st in the men’s race for Southern Utah.
