Montana State Bobcats volleyball swept at Sacramento State

SACRAMENTO – Sacramento State out-hit Montana State .260 to .121, en route to a 25-15, 25-22, 25-16 victory over the Bobcats on Thursday night at Colberg Court. With the victory, the Hornets moved into a tie atop the Big Sky Conference standings with Idaho.

Sacramento State (12-11, 7-2) jumped out early, out-hitting Montana State (8-12, 3-6) .242 to .038 to take the opening set. The second frame was much tighter and featured 15 ties and four lead changes, before Sacramento State broke away from 22-all with three consecutive points. The Hornets used a commanding .400 attack mark in the final stanza to complete the sweep.

Montana State was paced by Natalie Passeck with eight kills, while Kelsie White added a solid hitting line with five kills and a .364 attack mark. White also added a team-best four blocks. Setter Carina Lehto posted her fourth straight double-double with 23 assists and a team-high 12 digs. Allyssa Rizzo also hit double-digit digs with 10 saves.

Sacramento State was led by reigning Big Sky Player of the Week Mikaela Nocetti with 12 kills.

Montana State will play at Portland State at 3 p.m. (MT) on Saturday afternoon in Viking Pavilion.
