MISSOULA — The Montana softball team came into the 2019 season with a young roster after losing 11 seniors to graduation. As expected, the young squad struggled to start off the season, but now, after two home series, the Grizzlies look to be on track at the right time.

The Griz are coming off of two home series wins, one over Utah Valley where they took two of three and another against a tough Nevada team where the Griz swept all three games.

After a dismal 5-20 start the Griz are now 10-21. Headed into conference play this Saturday, head coach Melanie Muechel likes the direction of her team.

“Never be content with what we have, but we’re very happy with where we are at,” said Meuchel. “I think we are seeing some great things from our team and we are seeing results because of it. So, it’s one of those, that we are going to keep pushing to get better, because we know that there is still a lot of the season in front of us, and probably the most important part of the season in front of us. If we can continue to build into the end then I think we have a chance at a lot of good things happening for us.”
