MISSOULA – Coming off a must-win game over Southern Utah, this weekend Montana matches up with an opponent who is back in the Big Sky Conference in 2018.
The Grizzlies will be heading to Moscow, Idaho to take on the Idaho Vandals in another must-win game if the Griz want any chance at a bid in the FCS playoffs.
Idaho hasn’t been in the Big Sky since 1995 when it moved up to the FBS, but since then Montana has the past four wins.
“It’s our second-oldest rival,” said Montana head coach Bobby Hauck. “This is the 84th or 85th time we played them. We’ve been playing it since 1903. When you talk to some of the older fellas that have been part of this program, this game was a huge, huge game in these parts for a long time. We’re aware of that. We’re certainly excited to be able to play this thing again.”
