MISSOULA – The Montana Grizzly volleyball team came into 2018 as an unknown, but now halfway through the season the Griz have made their name known in the Big Sky Conference.
The Griz opened the 2018 season dropping nine of their first 12 matchups leading into conference play. When conference play started, though, something changed in the Griz locker room. They rattled off three wins to start Big Sky play and now sit at 5-3, right in the middle of the standings.
Headed into the second stretch of the season, head coach Allison Lawrence knows what the team needs to do to get to the tournament.
“Starting off 3-1 was a dream come true but also the result of a lot of hard work, not just throughout the preseason but the last two seasons,” Lawrence said. “We’ve kind of been trying to reflect on that, feeling some confidence from that, but also use that as the fire to get us working even harder through this back stretch. So, we’re excited, we’re confident, we’re also really hungry, which is right where we need to be.”
