BOZEMAN – Bozeman and Bobcat nation couldn’t be happier to bring back Montana State University basketball star Danny Sprinkle as the 23rd head coach of the program.
His opening press conference brought a lot of familiar faces and alumni back to MSU’s campus. Among them was former athletic trainer for basketball, Chuck Karnop. Reuniting with an old friend made the day even sweeter, and Karnop says Sprinkle’s hire was the best thing that could have happened for the program.
“It’s a great hire, not only will he do a good job, he’s worked hard he deserves this. This institution deserves to have him back it’s a good, fit,” says Karnop.
An MSU alum brings a lot of familiarity back to the program. You could feel the emotions in the room as Sprinkle gave his introductory press conference with his family and former mentors in the room with him. But if there’s one thing Sprinkle doesn’t lack it’s passion. And for Bobcat nation what more could you ask for?
“The thing about (Sprinkle) is he’s been here, he’s very familiar with how the program is. He’s back here, he knows how hard it is,” added Karnop. “He’ll rise to the occasion, and if anybody can get it done he’ll get it done. He knows it’s going to be hard and I guess if Danny can’t get it done, maybe they should consider not playing basketball here.”
Karnop also said, “I would think that if you could pull the people that were here when he was a high school guy, and when he played there wouldn’t be many that didn’t remember him with really fond memories.”
