OGDEN, Utah — Former Helena High runner Aidan Reed has been named the freshman of the year by the Big Sky Conference following the 2018 Championships.

Reed, who was a redshirt freshman this outdoor season at Southern Utah after sitting out the 2017 campaign, has continued to improve for the Thunderbirds through each season of competition.

He claimed the 10,000-meter Big Sky Championship last weekend, winning the race in a time of 30:04.06. His gold medal performance was the first of his career at a Big Sky Conference event.

Reed ran his 10K personal best earlier this season at the Mt. SAC Relays, finishing in a time of 29:31.01.

Reed also finished sixth at the Big Sky Championships in the 5,000-meter, claiming valuable points for the Thunderbirds in an extremely close competition.
