MISSOULA – We meet another nominee for student-athlete of the year at the KPAX Sports Awards Banquet: Missoula Loyola’s Joe McElroy.
McElroy dominated on both sides of the line in his high school football career at Loyola, earning first-team all-conference honors in 2016 and 2017. He will be taking his talents to Bozeman in the fall to play for Montana State.
Not only was McElroy skilled in football, but he’s also excelled in tennis, track and basketball, as well. He also shined in the classroom with a 3.42 grade-point average.
When asked who his role model was for the past four years, McElroy said his brother.
“My role model is my brother Jake,” McElroy said. “I‘ve always looked up to him, whether it be in life or in sports. I’ve always wanted to be like him. I’ve always tried to be like him in life. He just portrays the greatest role model I’ve ever had.”
