MISSOULA — After nearly a month of offseason conditioning, the Montana Grizzlies returned to the football field this week to officially begin the 2018 season as spring ball started Monday.
Head coach Bobby Hauck and his staff have seen how the team looks in the weight room and will now get their first real look at the team’s talent over 14 practice sessions culminated by the annual Spring Game on April 14.
Hauck said they won’t know what kind of team they have until the pads come on, but he added that getting a first look at these guys on the field is certainly exciting.
“It’s not real football until you start running into each other, so we’ll get out here and get some plays put in on both sides of the ball and on special teams. And then as we get into pads we’ll start finding out about people,” Hauck said.
The Griz will hold two more practices this week, one on Wednesday and the other on Friday.
