HELENA -- The Montana State men's basketball team opened practices on Sept. 25, and a week later Danny Sprinkle was back in his old stomping grounds to chat about the past, the present, and the future of the Bobcats.
Members of the Montana State Alumni Foundation, family, friends and fans of Bobcats Basketball gathered at Green Meadow Country Club in Helena to hear Sprinkle's plan for taking over the program, to ask questions about his coaching style and to reminisce about his time as an adolescent in the Helena area. Sprinkle was a standout player at Helena High before his stellar playing career at Montana State in the 1990s.
"It's awesome, it's my favorite place. You see so many old friends and families that helped me get to where I am and that's what makes Helena special, is the community here," Sprinkle said after chatting with and saying goodbye to many of those who attended the event. "The only reason I'm at Montana State is because of the people from Helena."
Sprinkle and the Bobcats men's basketball team will open their season on Oct. 30 when they host the Yellowstone Christian Centurions for an exhibition game.
