CODY, Wyo. – Tuesday night was one Brody Cress has had circled for a long time.

The Wyoming saddle bronc rider nearly won a world title in his first trip to the National Finals Rodeo last year. He needed 86.5 points on Delta Force in the final round, and scored 86 – to lose by less than $3,000. Cress admits he made a mistake that night and has been waiting seven months for another chance, which he finally got at the Cody Stampede.

“I’m pumped to have her again,” Cress said before the ride. “There are some mistakes I made there in that round that I shouldn’t have. If I would have rode her perfect, then I would have won a world title. She’s always outstanding. You come to a Frontier rodeo, and she’s dang sure one that’s going to give you a chance to win it, so I’m excited to be able to get on her again, and get on her at one of the biggest 4th of July rodeos there is in front of the home state.”

Cress got his revenge: 88.5 points to jump into second overall at the Stampede. He came into the week third in the world. The 22-year-old will make another title run in December.
