WHITEFISH — All 11 Carroll College women’s basketball players eligible for the academic all-conference squad earned the honor, the league announced this week. The Fighting Saints and Montana Tech each posted 11 athletes to the prestigious academic team, which totaled 50 athletes in all.

To be eligible for the honor, athletes must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, be a sophomore in standing and have been enrolled in the school for the previous two semesters.

Seven Carroll College seniors — Bailey Pasta, Sara Chalich, Michaela Dowdy, Cassidy Hashley, Brittney Johnson, Mikaela Olson and Mikaela Robinson — were selected to the Frontier’s all-academic squad. Juniors Hannah Dean and Oona Harrington were joined by sophomores Dani Wagner and Taylor Salonen on the squad.

Montana Tech was led by six juniors on the academic all-conference team. Bailey Armbruster, Madison Akers, Kourtney Coverdell, Kaylynn Coverdell, Samantha McGree and Hannah Sparks met the requirements for the honor. Tjaden Pallister, Shay Potter and Adriane Horn were also given the accolade.

Montana Western, which competed in the NAIA Fab Four last month in Billings, landed eight athletes on the squad, including Montanans Britt Cooper, Sierra Bignell, Savannah Bignell, Cierra Lamey, Paige Holmes and Alexa Welch.

Lewis-Clark State College had six athletes represented, while Rocky Mountain College and the University of Providence placed five on the academic team. Four MSU-Northern Skylights, including three from Montana, accomplished the feat.
